METZELER'S NEW 888

Parts/Drag NVP: Metzeler readies high-mileage Triple Eight tire

MADISON, Wis. - Metzeler’s new ME888 Marathon Ultra, dubbed the Triple Eight (888), is an evolution of the company’s high-mileage ME880, Christopher Wall, Metzler marketing director, told Parts Unlimited sales representatives this week at the company’s annual National Vendor Presentation here. But the tire won’t be available until the first quarter of 2013.

Pricing and specs on the tire aren’t being revealed in Metzeler’s soft launch here at the NVP. “We just want dealers to be aware that it’s coming,” Wall said, noting that "it's the only ultra mileage V-Twin tire with Metzeler peformance and handling."

At the same time, Wall announced the new multi-compound Roadtec Z8, also slated for delivery early next year. Details on Z8 pricing and specifications will be available shortly, Wall said.

Wall told Parts reps to encourage dealer use of the PartsNetWeb and DragNetWeb Internet sites to look up pricing and product information. “There are, maybe, four times as many products available online as in the catalog, something that dealers should know about,” he said

THUNDERMAX THROTTLE-BY-WIRE

Found two videos on new features for Throttle-by-wire. check it out.

The ThunderMax "Rider Programming Mode" is a new feature released for ThunderMax Throttle-by-Wire applications for 2.0 or greater firmware. "Rider Programming Mode" is used to access and adjust basic settings of the ECM without a computer.

"Rider Programming Mode" allows computer-free use of these features:
. The Configuration Library of Stored Base Maps
. Idle Speed Selection
. Speedometer Calibration
                 . Clearing AutoTune Adjustments
 

In this video below, we will review the Rider Programing Mode and the Configuration Library of Base Maps. Loading multiple maps into the Configuration Library is not a required function; only one map uploaded into "Running Position" is required for engine operation.

The Library is an additional feature which allows you to use your laptop or PC to store within the module up to five additional maps. Once uploaded, these additional maps can be selected and loaded into the Running Position by following a sequence of operations using the motorcycle's ignition switch, throttle grip, clutch lever and gauge display, without having to re-link to a computer.

This feature allows the rider to quickly and simply select different map calibrations for specific applications or purposes. (Click the image and watch the video.)

In this video, we will review the Idle Speed Selection, Speedometer Calibration and Clear AutoTune Offsets features.

The "Idle Speed Selection" is used to adjust the specific Idle RPM Speed setting stored in each ThunderMax base map. This feature allows you to raise or lower the idle RPM within a range of 800-1200 RPM. If larger adjustments in idle speed are required, you must perform this through the TMax Tuner software.

The "Speedometer Calibration" is used to adjust the speedometer display, allowing you to synch the speedo gauge display with the true vehicle speed from your GPS. This feature can also be used to compensate for changes made to the bike that would affect the speedometer reading, like larger diameter tires or wheels.

"Clear AutoTune Adjustments" is used to clear any learned points generated by the ECM's AutoTune function and will revert the fuel points to the initial base map settings. (Click the image to watch the video.)

Turns out that in a head to head comparison, our product has a lot more to offer in a much more attractive price range AND it's easier to install!

Attached is a comparison of Hogtunes new 902.2 Rev Kit vs. Their Boom Audio. As you will see Hogtunes offer some key features that clearly put it ahead of Boom Audio.

· More power (and we know that’s clean power as Pez pointed out)

· Works with Harley’s XM module (Theirs doesn’t WTF?)

· Includes all necessary wiring (Their harness 70169-06A is $109.95)

· Installs without Digital Tech!

So the reality is, just the parts from Those Guys for an amp and two speakers kit is $549.95 plus $109.95 or $659.90 and that’s before you pay the dealer to do whatever he has to do with digital tech to make it work, probably at least $50 at a dealer if you installed it yourself. So now we’re over $700 and two trips to the dealer for the DIY’er (one to buy, one to Digital Tech)when the customer could have bought a 902.2 Rev Kit and saved $320.

Ok, take $190 of that $320 and add a Hogtunes Tweeter Pod, another $80 for the windshield pouch and that leaves $50 for an iPod shuffle that holds 2GB of music
